Luffa for the bath
The loofah for the bath is a vegetable sponge that is used to get rid of dead skin. It allows to exfoliate the roughest parts but it can be used on all parts of the body. The loofah will give you a feeling of well-being and your skin will breathe better.
Small bonus: when your loofah reaches the end of its life, you can compost it in your garden. It leaves no waste.
What is the loofah?
The loofah is a plant of the Cucurbitaceae family and it produces fruits whose shape resembles that of zucchini or cucumber. The fruits of the loofah are picked when ripe and are used as a vegetable sponge, soap dish and scrub. It is also called "sponge gourd".
The loofah is very little consumed in cooking but it is edible. However, it must be harvested very early otherwise it will be much too bitter.
How to use the loofah?
You need to moisten your loofah so that it becomes more flexible and softer (don't worry, even if the loofah is rough when dry, it becomes softer when wet) . For the first use, it is necessary to let it soak for 15 minutes so that it softens as it should. The loofah should be used with soap.
For a better efficiency of your natural sponge, make circular gestures starting with the legs and going up towards the belly. This will stimulate blood circulation to the heart. On the stomach, make circular movements and for the buttocks, make gestures from the bottom up, vertically.
After using the loofah, remember to moisturize your skin well, its action will allow the treatment to penetrate better. You can use a vegetable oil or a vegetable butter.
We recommend using the loofah once a week to prevent your skin from drying out.
Little tip: depending on your use, you can very well cut your loofah with a pair of scissors to have several.
