Food Grade Baking Soda

Sodium bicarbonate or bicarbonate of soda is a very pure white powder, the result of a chemical reaction between chalk and salt. Naturasphere's bicarbonate is food grade, so you can use it for both household and kitchen use.

In addition to being 100% natural and biodegradable, it is also an economical product. It will be your friend for an ecological household. It can be used as a degreaser, cleaner, stain remover, odor neutralizer and more.

To find out how to use this product with multiple uses, it's just below.

Cooking uses:

  • Wash fruits and vegetables: For leafy vegetables and thin-skinned fruits, dilute 25g of bicarbonate per liter of water. Soak your fruits and vegetables for 10 minutes then rinse thoroughly. A cloud forms quickly: this means that the product is working. For other fruits and vegetables with thicker skin, make a paste (1/4 water and 3/4 powder). Rub fruit and rinse.
  • For burnt pans: Place 50g of baking soda at the bottom of the pan and add very hot water. Leave to act for about 15 minutes. Rub gently, the deposit will come off and your pan will be clean again.
  • Deodorize your refrigerator: In a cup, put baking soda and place it on a shelf in your refrigerator. The baking soda will absorb bad odors. After a few weeks, if the odors return, the baking soda is no longer absorbent and must be replaced.
  • In the dishwasher: Put 2 tablespoons of baking soda in addition to your usual product. It will reinforce the action of the product and will limit the development of odors.
  • As a baking powder: Bicarbonate replaces baking powder. Indeed, in contact with an acid or when it is heated, it releases CO2. Due to this, the cakes swell and they are lighter. Dosage: 1 level teaspoon of baking soda equals 1 packet of baking powder.

Uses for cleaning:

  • Rugs and carpets: To clean your rugs and carpets and remove bad smells, sprinkle them with baking soda. Then rub with a brush and leave to act for a few hours. Vacuum the excess.
  • For the detergent: Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of baking soda to the detergent compartment in addition to your usual detergent. This will increase its action, eliminate odors and prevent the formation of deposits. Warning: do not use on wool and silk.
  • Scrubbing the oven or hotplates: Form a paste by adding a little water to the baking soda. Apply to the surface, leaving to act, then rinse.

Uses in the bathroom:

  • Relaxing bath: Put 150g of baking soda (1/2 cup) in hot water (37-40°C).
  • Mouth hygiene: To clean your mouth and neutralize odours, dilute 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and make a mouthwash.
  • Whiten teeth: Put some baking soda on your toothbrush and brush as usual. Warning: do not do this more than twice a week.
  • Raw material for DIY: It allows the manufacture of certain beauty products such as deodorant, toothpaste or even bath bombs.

Benefits of Sodium Bicarbonate:

  • It is not toxic to either the user or the environment.
  • It does not cause allergies.
  • It is edible (if baking soda).
  • It is biodegradable.
  • It does not contain preservatives.
  • It is economical.

Composition:

100% sodium bicarbonate.

Storage Tip:

Store in a dry place. Close the bag tightly after use.

Precautions for use:

Keep out of the reach of children.

My contribution to the planet:

Jar and lid are reused. You can bring them back or reuse them at home. We advise you to buy the pot for the first time (if you don't have one at home) and then repot it with the kraft bags.
