Blanc de Meudon

Blanc de Meudon, also known as Blanc d'Espagne, Blanc de Champagne, de Troyes, de Toulouse, or more rarely pierre blanche, is finely powdered calcium carbonate. It is the main component of chalk and limestone. This ecological product is used in many cleaning or DIY applications. Blanc de Meudon comes from the chalk quarries of the Paris Basin (Meudon).

Slightly abrasive, it allows cleaning surfaces without scratching them (windows, marble, earthenware, plastic, ceramic hob) and reviving the shine of metals (silverware, stainless steel, copper, tin, brass). It is safe for humans and the environment and is also inexpensive.

How to Use Blanc de Meudon?

Blanc de Meudon can be used for various purposes:

• Cleaning stainless steel in the kitchen: sprinkle your wet sponge with Blanc de Meudon and rub vigorously.
• Cleaning and reviving the shine of your metals: Blanc de Meudon can be used on silverware, brass, stainless steel, copper, tin, glass, earthenware, marble, etc. Simply mix Blanc de Meudon with water to form a paste and rub.
• Cleaning and polishing windows and mirrors: mix 1 part Blanc de Meudon with 1/2 part water. Apply this mixture to the entire window and let it dry.
• Paint preparation: it acts as a pigment in the production of many paints. It improves paint adhesion and texture.
• Whitening tile joints: mix Blanc de Meudon with a little water. Spread the paste on the blackened joints by rubbing. Let dry for 1 hour, then rinse with clear water. Dry with a clean cloth.
• Degreasing ceramic hobs: apply a water and Blanc de Meudon-based paste to your ceramic hob and let it act until the paste dries. Remove the paste with a clean cloth.
• Obscuring shop windows: Blanc de Meudon can be used to whiten shop windows during construction periods, for example.
• Crafts: mixed with water, Blanc de Meudon can be used to decorate windows during Christmas, for example.

Recipe Idea with Blanc de Meudon:

Here is a recipe for scouring stone with Blanc de Meudon:

• 2 measures of Blanc de Meudon
• 1 measure of baking soda
• 1 measure of liquid black soap
• 15 drops of essential oil (tea tree, lemon)

Mix the ingredients to form a homogeneous paste. You can add a little water if necessary.

Let it dry outside for at least 24 hours. Your paste is ready.

To use it, simply rub the scouring stone with a damp cloth or sponge and clean your surface (stainless steel sinks, oven grills, barbecue grills, faucets, etc.).
