A little culture :

Wintergreen is a shrub of the heather family found mainly in China, Nepal and Canada. It generally grows at altitudes in cold and humid regions.

Wintergreen was widely used by the indigenous tribes of northern Canada to treat many of their ailments (joint and tendon problems, fever, etc.).

It was only in the 18th century that a French botanist named Jean François Gaultier became interested in wintergreen. He had noticed that the natives chewed wintergreen leaves to lower fever and relieve pain. It was he who gave the name to wintergreen.

Wintergreen essential oil (EO) is obtained by steam distillation. It takes about 50kg of leaves for 1kg of essential oil.

Precautions for use:

Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Do not use in children under 6 years old. This HE is composed of 99% methyl salicylate called "natural aspirin", so we do not recommend it for people allergic to aspirin or salicylates. It is contraindicated for people on anticoagulant treatment.

Wintergreen essential oil is irritating, it should always be diluted for any skin application. It should not be used over large areas.

Storage advice:

Store essential oils in a cool, dry place, away from light. Make sure the bottle is always tightly closed.
