Furoshiki is the ecological packaging fabric par excellence. It is a traditional Japanese technique of folding and tying fabric used to wrap gifts or transport various everyday objects. It is often called “fabric origami”.
This Furoshiki, made of Oeko-tox certified cotton, will allow you to wrap your small gifts in an elegant and ecological way: book, water bottle, box of chocolates, solid cosmetics... No longer needed No more tape, this packaging stands alone thanks to the folds.
Once your gift is given, you either collect your Furoshiki or make it a gift in its own right. In both cases, it can be used for a future gift.
The invention of Furoshiki most certainly dates back to the 8th century in the Nara era (710-794), more than 1200 years ago. At that time, it was intended to protect precious objects of the Japanese nobility. It is also called “Tsutsumi” which means packaging in Japanese. It was only during the Edo Era (1603-1868) that Furoshiki became more popular and developed in the lives of the Japanese. After the Second World War, we saw a decline in Furoshikis due to the massive development of plastic bags. But thanks to the waste reduction policy, it made a comeback in the 2000s and is exported all over the world.
Today, Furoshiki is an essential part of the zero waste approach!
